Insight LA: Mindfulness-on-the-go
If you’re looking to settle into a multi-week course or retreat on mindfulness or meditation, Insight LA is the place to go—they’re one of the few spots in the country to offer MBSR (mindfulness based stress release), after all. But if you’re more inclined to spend just a few minutes a day on your practice, their free audio library of lectures and guided meditations is a goldmine. The talks, which are usually taken from classes or sitting groups, clock in between 10 and 20 minutes, perfect for squeezing into a morning commute. The range of topics is endless, but some of our favorites explore building confidence through meditation, confusion as a tool for deepening your practice, and mindfulness as a parenting tool. (There are also conversations that dig into the history of meditation and the Buddhist teachings that inform many techniques.) We recommend starting out with something from Trudy Goodman, Insight LA’s wise (and often hilarious) founder and guiding teacher.
