How To Trim Your Own Bangs

Salon owner/hair guru Sally Hershberger says the key to a not-homemade-looking trim lies in not cutting every individual hair to precisely the same length. You avoid that by taking tiny—the smaller the better, really—sections of hair and twisting them between your fingers before you cut with the scissors. Haircutting scissors are the best, but fingernail scissors or other small scissors work in a pinch. Take your time, twist a vanishingly-small section, and snip, then go on to the next. The more tedious it feels, the better it should look.
