GP Scrapbook: Imanta, Mexico
Nestled directly into the cliffs of the Riviera Nayarit—an especially serene stretch of Mexico’s Gold Coast just north of Puerto Vallarta—Imanta is one of the most incredible resorts in the world. Surrounded by a lush nature reserve on one side and miles of pristine beach on the other, the privacy factor here makes it particularly appealing to the romantically inclined. Accommodations-wise, there are 11 sprawling, indoor-outdoor suites and villas, each one kitted out with all the creature comforts one needs to never have to leave—plush beds, decks that jut out into the jungle, and in most cases, private plunge pools or outdoor stone bathtubs and showers. However, a horseback ride through the jungle, stargazing from the romantic rooftop Observatorio, and the legendary ceviche along with a cold cerveza (or three) at the aptly named Catch of the Day are all well worth venturing out for. Then there’s the spa. Like everything at Imanta, it’s set up to take full advantage of the gorgeous surroundings, so you can request to take your massage on the beach, in your room, or under a canopy of trees in the forest.
