Fashion Week with Taylor Tomasi Hill

Insiders in the world of fashion know and love Taylor Tomasi Hill: She has worked at Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, and W Magazine and in recent years has become an emblem of “what is she wearing?” street style. We thought it would be amazing to watch this fashion prodigy in her natural habitat, so we sent her in to report on everything from her fashion week food spots to what we need to know for fall of 2014.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

As an editor or buyer, New York Fashion Week is a mad dash: Often, you’ll find yourself at 9+ shows a day, with plenty of appointments in between. These appointments are officially called re-sees, because you get to view the collection up close and personal. Goop tapped me to take you on a journey through my NYFW, from backstage to front row. There are plenty of other moments along the way, too, like my beauty regimen (I’m finally revealing who colors my hair), and a trip to the Chelsea Flower Market for my budding floral business (@TTHBlooms). It can’t be all fashion, all the time, after all, which is why I stayed up until 3am putting together arrangements for clients. I hope you enjoy the journey as I had a blast with the amazing goop team.

My Favorite Follows On
Instagram

These are the feeds I follow religiously, even if I haven’t opened Instagram in days. @Bat_Gio for amazing travels and finds; @huntersalley for inspiration and perfectly plucked home wares; @intothegloss for beauty advice and shoots with up-and-comers; and @matchesfashion for their spot-on fashion curation. If you want to know what’s worth looking at, their iPhones point the way.

Girls and a Guy Worth Watching

These are the kick-ass b*tches I have my eye on: Familiar faces and ones to watch. This is street style.

The Goop Girls

Laurel Pantin, Market Editor, Lucky

Q: What piece did you give away that you most regret?

A: An awesome Krizia mohair turtleneck sweater dress from college that had printed foxes running up the body. I saw the sweater version on one of the Olsen twins and all I could think about was how badly I wanted to wear it! I still miss that dress!

Q: What secret product has been a constant in your beauty routine?

A: VMV Hypoallergenics Boo Boo Balm. I use this as lip balm, also on my knuckles, elbows, everywhere. It’s really moisturizing and naturally anti-bacterial and works as the prettiest highlighter on eyelids and cheekbones.

Q: Most impressive recipe?

A: Taco bar!!! Texan girls love to do taco bar!

Derek Blasberg

Q: Favorite roommate of all time?

A: Tough call. My brother used to pick on me when I was little, and when I lived in Brooklyn I had to share an apartment with this feisty red head who walked around in her bra all the time. (Her name was Taylor Tomasi, maybe you know her?)

Q: The one clothing piece you’d grab if your apartment were burning down?

A: My dad’s military jacket from the army. It’s beat up and beat in, and says BLASBERG on it.

Q: Most impressive recipe?

A: The only thing I can prepare is ice, which comes in handy because I like to drink.

Ramya Giangola, President, gogoluxe

Q: Designer to watch?

A: Christine Lau, whose label, Chictopia is full of silhouettes that are super-feminine with an edge.

Q: Most impressive recipe?

A: I love to whip up Mark Bittman’s Gougères to serve with champagne or cocktails. Everyone thinks you’re a master chef (which I am not)!

Lindsey Frugier, Fashion Market Editor, W Magazine

Q: Go-to weekend shoes?

A: Right now I’m wearing The Row for Superga black cashmere high-tops.

Q: Favorite Flower?

A: All white and green everything like peonies, ranunculus and dahlias.

Lily Kwong, Model, Philanthropist

Q: The one clothing piece you’d grab if your house were burning down?

A: A floor-length floral vintage dress of my mother’s from the 30’s that I wore to my graduation.

Q: Most impressive recipe?

A: An Altuzarra family special: Seasonal fruit crumble.

Caroline Issa, Fashion Director, Tank Magazine and Because London

Q: What was your first big FASHIÓN purchase?

A: A pair of platform, chunky black ankle boots from Aldo when I was 13. I’d seen them in a magazine, and I begged my parents to buy them for me. They were so fashion-forward that I only ever wore them in the house.

Q: Your favorite off-the-beaten path shop?

A: Codognato Jewelry Shop in Venice: He only has one boutique selling his incredible jewels, and if you are lucky enough to get an invite to his home, you can also gawk at his amazing art collection.

Q: Most impressive recipe?

A: I make a mean set of crepes—thin and not too sweet with Canadian maple syrup and berries.

Caroline de Maigret, Music Producer, Model, Mother

Q: What’s your biggest vice?

A: Meatballs.

Q: What are you reading these days?

A: I am re-reading Russian literature: Chekhov, Dostoyevsky—it’s all so genius.

Getting Dressed for the Met Gala

The Met Ball, at NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art, is always the year's most elaborate display of incredible fashion and this year was no different. The theme was 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' and when the house of Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri asked me to join them,...
