A Week of Summer Work Essentials

“Advertisement"Advertisement

The hotter it gets outside, the easier it becomes to fall down a basic-cotton-button-down spiral when dressing for the office—sure you can get away with it, but why would you want to? Here, a work-week’s worth of looks comprised of lightweight, comfortable, and most importantly, non-boring separates you’ll get a lot of mileage out of.

Monday

Black and white is a fairly common combo, so consider amping up a high-collar sleeveless top with a fun floral in the form of a floaty, calf-grazing skirt (bonus points for ventilation).

Tuesday

Think of this A-line pullover piece as the anti-shirtdress: it’s got the requisite shirting fabric, but the dramatic tiers and lack of buttons are anything but expected. When things cool off, swap the nude accessories for navy or black.

Wednesday

We’ve never met a ruffle we didn’t like, and this one is especially appealing because it accommodates both high-waisted slacks for office, and low-rise shorts for weekend. Break up the solids with chunky, geometric platforms and a pop-of-color bag.

Thursday

White jeans are casual office gold—simply team with lace-up flatforms and feather-light cotton tops and go from the office right into happy hour.

Friday

A sure way to make a denim skirt work at work? Stick to streamlined silhouettes (this one is actually a wraparound) and polished, grownup accessories.

Extras

Because it’s the little things for your desk and bag that will get you through the season unscathed.
